UOVision | Select 30 – 4G LTE “CLOUD”

This camera is incredibly easy to use, and like all UOVision cameras.

Now, let’s talk about how this camera performed earlier this year—because these things are an absolute beast! I deployed the UOVision Select 30 – 4G LTE “CLOUD” in late February in a prime Sika hunting location. The chosen spot was a small spur covered in deer droppings. With February being hot and dry, it was tough to spot fresh deer or pig prints on the manuka edges due to the hard soil. However, I knew the Sika and pigs frequented the area, as they feed and bed down in the manuka, using this spur to move between their feeding grounds and the native bush.

Since I needed at least two bars of coverage, I picked the closest tree where my phone was getting a strong enough signal. I had already purchased a Spark SIM card (though this camera works with any open SIM) and topped it up with $50 credit. Before heading into the bush, I thoroughly tested the camera and app at home, ensuring it was sending pictures and videos properly via the LinckEazi app, which includes a free subscription.

I always test my trail cameras at home before taking them into the field—this way, I fully understand how they operate and can trust that they’ll function correctly when left for months at a time. Setting up the UOVision Select 30 4G was no exception, and once deployed, it didn’t disappoint!

The placement of the camera on the tree was at eye level for a deer, I have learned over the years that this is the premium spot for good photos. I also added an external aerial I had purchased to gain another bar or coverage as the area was only just picking up 2 bars and that's the minimum needed for this model. I set the camera to take a photo burst of 10 photos and to send me the second photo, I predicted the first photo to be only part of a deer and the second to be a better shot. The camera sends the second photo to the app but it stores the other 9 photos on the SD card in the camera. It can also take 4K / 1080p video with sound and is great quality.

I positioned the camera at eye level for a deer, a technique I’ve refined over the years to consistently capture the best quality photos. To improve connectivity, I also attached an external antenna I had purchased, which boosted my signal by another bar—essential since this area was barely picking up the minimum two bars required for this model to transmit images
effectively.

For the photo settings, I configured the camera to take a burst of 10 photos, with the second photo set to be sent to the app. My reasoning? The first image often only captures part of the animal, while the second shot tends to provide a clearer, more centered view. The camera transmits that second photo to the app, while the remaining nine images are stored on the SD card for later retrieval. Additionally, this camera is capable of recording high-quality 4K or 1080p video with sound, making it an excellent choice for capturing both stunning visuals and clear audio in the field.

Over the next three months, I received regular photo updates via the LinckEazi app, which I checked almost daily. There was plenty of activity—enough to confirm that the image quality was excellent, both during the day and at night. Being able to monitor wildlife from over 200km away in real-time is incredibly useful, and this camera made it effortless. I also relocated the camera to two different spots, and once again, it delivered high-quality photos and video,
proving its reliability in different environments

A key tip for any cellular trail camera is to keep the battery level above 50%, as these cameras consume a lot of power while maintaining a signal and transmitting images. Fortunately, the LinckEazi app allows you to monitor battery status, air temperature, and more, all from your phone. You can even adjust the camera settings remotely, eliminating the need for frequent trips into the bush. The app is well-designed and user-friendly, making it easy to manage your camera from anywhere. This model is perfect for monitoring stags on wallows if you're within network coverage, or for security purposes at home or on the farm. With an IP66 weather rating and a two-year warranty, this camera offers great reliability at an excellent price.
